NGC has announced that they will be offering a special pedigree for coins from the sets. Eligible coins will have a special NGC commemorative label with the pedigree EAGLE 10TH ANNIVERSARY. The pedigree will also be applicable for the regular proof platinum eagle included in the set.

Since the proof one half ounce platinum eagle is also available individually, NGC has special instructions for ensuring that your coins will receive the pedigree. Check out their full announcement for further details.

I agree. I was pretty disappointed they decided to have such a huge mintage.

Once the Mint has a sell out of a product, they seem to do everything possible to prevent future sell outs of future similar products. Most recent examples are First Spouse Dolley Madison and now the Reverse Proof Plat Set.

If the mint is trying to prevent sell-outs, I guess I'm wondering why my platinum set was backordered 18 minutes after the set went on sale. All those people not ordering the set overloaded the system to an extent that it took me 18 minutes to get through.
