James K. Polk Presidential Dollar Coin Cover

Sales of the James K. Polk $1 Coin Cover will begin today October 1, 2009 at 12:00 Noon ET. This is the eleventh release for the US Mint's American Presidency $1 Coin Cover series.

Each cover features two James K. Polk Presidential Dollar coins from the first day of production at the Philadelphia Mint and Denver Mint. The coins are mounted on a custom display card with a 44 cent Flag postage stamp. The postmark is August 20, 2009 Columbia, TN.

The covers are priced at $14.95 plus shipping and handling. The production limit for the cover will be 40,000 units. The US Mint's product page can be found here.

The two $1 Coin Covers previously released this year featuring William Henry Harrison and John Tyler are still on sale at the US Mint. To date, the covers have sold 26,011 and 21,675 units, respectively.

Man, noboby even cares enough about these Presidential Dollar First-Day Covers anymore to even comment on this post! I couldn't stand it anymore. It's so depressing to see a post go for days on end with no comments!

I bet the Mint will reduce the number of covers made for these to only 25,000 next year, or 30,000 tops. I can't believe they left Polk at 40,000! No doubt all of these covers will still be on sale by June 30th next year, when the Mint will finally cut them off (or put them out of their misery is more like it!)

OK! So I'll add another comment in reference to the most recent post about the mint abandoning the ASE/AGE products for 2009. They may consider just not making the coin covers and folders with low sales numbers, and focusing on collector items such as the ASE/AGE.
